This paragraph post is paired in my Zora creator coin, highlighting the power of the Zora creator coin model and the open nature of crypto protocols.
After reading the post from the great Empress Trash that was remixed from the post by jacob (cofounder of Zora) I was curious to learn more. I like the idea presented by the Empress tying creator coins to retail merch via ecommerce platforms and know of a few creators exploring such concepts and beyond. The founder of Mismir has a unique concept idea in the works.
Now that Creator Coins can naturally be integrated across several platforms, I wonder how do we verify the creator behind the coin? I've seen Creator Coins released with a value over $100k with no post or a single post with a handful of holders. Most new coins start with a value of $10k or less. Have the grifters in this space already found a way to infect it?
I think now more than ever, it's important to DYOR before investing in any coin/token/creator. The world of art has always been subjected to forgeries and copycats but now in the digital age, the ability to replicate requires no artistic skill. It can be coded.
So being able to attach your Creator Coin to many different platforms and possibly even physical items is a great way to validate or show proof of creator. There are several artists out there that do not show their face as often as others, myself included, making "know your creator" KYC difficult. For bigger artists like Banksy, how could you verify any digital art claimed to be authentic?
As we travel through this digital age it appears that as we become more trusting with each other, a responsibility to DYOR comes along with it. If you get the opportunity to help others stay safe along the way, do it. Because what goes around, doesn't come around. Bad actors aren't always caught and every day they get away free from any justice. But if more artists help each other out, promote each other and validate each other, the grifters become out numbered and it becomes a more inviting space to express yourself.
Maybe one day there will be a simple button to click and verify creators...
